Trinidad and Tobago Travel Information
Trinidad and Tobago is a country in the southern Caribbean, consisting of two main islands,
and many smaller islands. It has no land borders, but has maritime boundaries with
Barbados,
Guyana,
and Venezuela.
The population of Trinidad and Tobago was estimated as 1.3 million as of 2009. The capital of the country is Port of Spain on the island of Trinidad, and there two other large municipalities as well: Chaguanas and San Fernando (both also on the island of Trinidad). Unlike most other Caribbean countries, Trinidad and Tobago's economy is primarily industrial, and is particularly focused around the petroleum and natural-gas industry (this industry accounts for approximately 40% of GDP and about 80% of exports). Other important economic sectors include manufacturing (particularly food, beverages, and cement), and tourism - although tourism is not as important as in some other Caribbean countries.
