Oman Travel Information
The Sultanate of Oman
is a country located in the southeastern corner of the
Arabian Peninisula. It borders
Saudi Arabia,
the United Arab Emirates,
and Yemen, and has coasts
on the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Sea.
Omani territory includes two exclaves:
Madha, which is entirely enclosed by
Emirati territory, and
Musandam, which is a separated from Oman
by Emirati territory but
which is a peninsula jutting into the Persian Gulf
at the Strait of Hormuz.
As of 2009,
the population of Oman was estimated as being
2,845,000.
The country's capital and largest city is Muscat, which, as of
2008,
had a total population of 1,090,797 in the city and surrounding metropolitan area.
