Nepal Travel Information
The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
is a landlocked country in southern Asia.
It lies between
India and
the People's Republic of China,
and contains a diverse range of geographical regions.
The North of the country is mountainous and contains eight of
the ten highest mountains in the world including the highest
mountain on Earth, Mount Everest (also known as Sagarmatha).
The South of the country is on the other hand fertile and heavily
urbanized.
As of 2009,
the population of Nepal was estimated as being
29,331,000.
The country's capital and largest city is Kathmandu, which, as of
2009,
had an estimated population of 949,486 people in the city itself,
and a total population of 1,687,102 in the combined city and metropolitan area.
