The Republic of Armenia is a landlocked country in the Caucasus region, on the boundary between eastern
Europe and western Asia.
It shares land borders with
Azerbaijan,
Georgia,
Georgia,
Russia, and
Turkey.
As of 2008, the population of Armenia was estimated as being 3,249,500. The country's capital and largest city is Yerevan, which, as of 2009, had an estimated population of 1,111,300, with a total of 1,245,700 people living in the combined city and surrounding metropolitan area.
