(Spanish: República de Costa Rica) is a country in central America.
It shares land borders with
Nicaragua and
Panama,
as well as having coasts on both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.
As of 2009,
the population was an estimated 4,253,877.
The capital and largest city, San José, according to figures from
2007,
had a population of 350,535,
with a total of 1,611,616 people living in the city and surrounding metropolitan area.
