Honduras
(Spanish: República de Honduras) is a country in central America.
It shares land borders with
Belize,
El Salvador,
Guatemala, and
Nicaragua,
as well as having a coast on the Gulf of Honduras (part of the Caribbean Sea),
and the Gulf of Fonseca (part of the Pacific Ocean).
As of 2009, Honduras had an estimated population of 7,810,848. The capital and largest city, Tegucigalpa, as of 2009, had a population of about 1.2 million, with a total of just over 1.3 million people living in the city and surrounding metropolitan area.
