Saint Lucia (French: Sainte-Lucie)
is an island nation in the eastern Caribbean Sea.
At many times in its colonial history it changed hands between
British and French
control, and as a result has a culture influenced by both countries.
As of the 2009 census, the population of Saint Lucia was estimated as being 173,765. The country's capital and largest city is Castries which has a population of about 67,000.
