Guam Travel Information
Guam is an island in the western Pacific that is organized
unincorporated territory of the United States.
It is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands,
and has an economy that is mainly based around U.S. military bases and
tourism.
Guam was acquired by the United States from Spain in 1898 as a result of the Treaty of Paris that concluded the Spanish-American War. During World War II, it was invaded and occupied by Japan in 1941 and liberated in 1944. There are no towns or cities in Guam, but there are a number of villages. The capital village is Hagåtña (formerly known as Agana), and the largest village is Dededo. The main airport in Guam is Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport.
