Serbia Travel InformationThe Republic of Serbia (Serbian: Republika Srbija) is a landlocked country in central-southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Romania. Additionally, Serbia also claims sovereignty over Kosovo, and if Kosovo is considered part of Serbian territory, then it also borders Albania. As of 2007, the population of Serbia was estimated as being 7,334,935 (excluding Kosovo), or about 9.1 million including Kosovo. Serbia's capital and largest city is Belgrade (Serbian: Beograd), which, as of 2007, had an estimated population of 1,482,000 in the city, and an estimated totla of 1,830,000 people living in the combined city and metropolitan area.
