Czech Republic Travel Information

Czech Republic Flag The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in central Europe. It borders Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia.

The total population of the Czech Republic, as of 2007, was estimated at 10,306,709. Around 2 million people lived in the country's capital, Prague, and the surrounding metropolitan area, with around 1.2 million of those living within the city itself.

The Czech Republic has long been an important industrialised country, and today the country is considered one of the most successful and stable of the post-Communist states. Today, the Czech Republic has a high income economy, and is a member of the European Union. Under European Union treaties, the Czech Republic is obligated to eventually join the eurozone, but this objective remains some way off, and at the moment the country continues to use its own currency, the Czech koruna.
