Palestinian Territories Travel Information


The Palestinian Territories are two regions (Gaza and the West Bank) which were occupied by Egypt and Jordan following the Israeli War of Independence in 1948, and then subsequently conquered by Israel in the Six Day War of 1967. Parts of the territories have been governed by the Palestinian Authority since the Oslo Accords of 1993.

The terrorities are:
  • Gaza - A narrow, but densely populated strip of land on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Egypt and Israel.

  • The West Bank - A landlocked region sandwiched between Israel and Jordan. The Palestinian National Authority claims East Jerusalem as part of the West Bank, however Israel asserts it annexed East Jerusalem under its domestic law in 1980 (the Israeli annexation is not recognized internationally, the US congress have signalled its intention to recognize it).
